Sing to God! (Jubilate Deo)

After the liturgical reforms of Vatican II, Pope Paul VI presented a 1974 document as a "minimum repertoire of Gregorian chant" which the faithful should learn to sing. In promulgating the booklet, the Congregation for Divine Worship stated that the book would be "extremely useful if the faithful learn the chants contained in the volume, as the Pope and the Congregation for Divine Worship intend."

Come learn the timeless music of the Church in a casual environment by singing with other Catholics who love chant. We are a group of people who want to better appreciate the chants that have defined the Church’s history in a low pressure, friendly environment. We use the document of Pope Paul VI, Jubilate Deo, as our repertoire which is available for free online.

During the quarantine, we are meeting Monday nights on Zoom.

Email chant@unavocekaty.com for more information.

The Jubilate Deo booklet is available here.

Join a Schola

The Schola at St. Bartholomew The Apostle Catholic Church in Katy is currently seeking new members to help them grow their ensemble sound in giving glory to God in the Sacred Liturgy. They are looking for both men and women who are interested in learning more about Gregorian Chant and committing to attending weekly practice as well as having interest in singing at the First Sunday of the Month 7 AM Mass once trained.

They practice every Tuesday at 7:00 PM on the St. Bartholomew grounds, with additional practices held as needed.

Please request to join our group for more information.

Catholic Date Nights

Join parishioners of St. Theresa in Sugar Land on the second Friday of every month for their Catholic Date Nights! From their website:

This is an evening to spend with old friends and to make new ones. If you are new to the parish, Date Night is a great venue for connecting with your fellow parishioners. We will have excellent dinner, drinks fellowship, and an opportunity to learn and discuss the reasons we are Catholic. The cost is $10 per person (pay at the door). Any and all adults are welcome. Dates are not necessary. This is just an opportunity to have a good meal and a good time. Please bring canned goods for our St. Vincent de Paul food pantry. Free Child Care is available by reservation prior to the event.

Catholic date night always follows their 5:30 PM Latin Mass!
